Song Recommender
A program that allows users to find songs that are similar to a song that they like. Using the Spotify API, the Song Recommender will prompt the user to enter a song title and artist that the song is by and then list 20 songs that are similar to the user's song based on genre, danceability, vibe, etc. The user will be able to listen to a 30 second preview of each song through a generated preview link that is linked to each song.
Interactive Album Poster
A decorative object, the interactive album poster will illuminate from behind and begin playing a song from the specified album once the user taps on the poster with their phone. It will also turn off the other posters if they are lit up to ensure that the focus is on the album that is currently playing. I built this using NFC tags, LED strips, wooden planks, and picture frames and programmed the posters using Apple Shortcuts to link the NFC tags and the LED strips together.
Magic Mirror
I used the Magic Mirror and the MMM-NowPlayingOnSpotify open source modular to create a smart mirror platform. I added the NowPlayingOnSpotify module to the Magic Mirror configuration and connected to the Spotify API and the OpenWeather API in order to display my currently played track and the weather forecast for my area on the mirror. I built this device using a Raspberry Pi, an external monitor, and a two-way mirror.
